The Journey...
Christopher McCourt is an innovative and creative designer based in the Northwest with a passion for new work and new ways of working. Specialising in Set Design and graduating from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in Theatre Performance Design with a first class honours in 2020. He previously studied UAL Art Foundation at Liverpool City College. Christopher has worked as part of The National Theatre Connections on the production of 'Ageless' for The Lowry, as Set, Costume and AV designer.
He has worked internationally as an assistant lighting designer for the Athens and Epidaurus festival.
Christopher enjoys new work, he finds new work more compelling as stories yet to be told. He has a passion for designing in unusual spaces, and has been part of numerous R&D productions he finds collaborating in this way can create something really special and truly authentic. He believes collaboration is key to making meaningful and inclusive work.
Christopher is a strong model maker and loves creating detailed model boxes that convey what the set will look like on stage. 'I always get a thrill when presenting the model to the cast and creatives, when the environment comes to life and the collective journey of storytelling begins.'
Christopher is a member of The Society of British Theatre Designers and is proud to be a mental health first aider.
